15 January 2018 – A bilateral Meeting between Minister Graziano Delrio and the Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar, Jassim Bin Saif Bin Ahmed al Sulaiti, was held today at the premises of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport.

The Meeting focused on the collaboration between the two Countries in Infrastructure and Transport Sectors offering the opportunity to exchange the views on the ongoing activities and future perspectives.

“It is an excellent cooperation  –Minister Delrio stated–” with a considerable potential for further growth”.

This is indeed a cooperation carried out through the participation of both undertakings of the public sector,  like Anas or Italferr, and other important engineering and construction companies in public projects.  Delrio took also the opportunity to inform about the future positive impacts produced by the merging between Anas and FS Group.

The issues discussed have also included  the positive conclusion of the Agreement between Qatar Airways and Meridiana, as well as the perspectives for relaunching the Air Company, with the signing of preliminary agreements and the planning of new air routes.

The Meeting also provided the opportunity for fostering the cooperation in the maritime sector with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ASSOPORTI (the Association of Italian Port Network Authorities)  and the Qatar Ports Management Authority.

This is the most important Memorandum of Understanding signed in the field of the Port Sector’s joint cooperation,  as well as for the promotion of new development perspectives in the exchange of mutual experiences,  with the definition of the joint investments between the Italian and Qatar Ports.
